Virtual Chalk Field Trip and Course
Virtual Chalk Field Trip and Course
Chalk is known to be a prolific reservoir for Oil and Gas, and understanding the peculiarities of the rock is a prerequisite for successful exploration and development.
This course offering is a shortcut to decades of experience from the North Sea, where Mads Willumsen will be addressing Chalk reservoirs in Paleogene, Upper and Lower Cretaceous strata.
Through live, online lectures and revealing exercises, video lectures from key chalk exposure sites including drone footage, outcrop hand specimens sent to your home address, combined with selected publications from the Chalk literature, you will be guided through to Chalk reservoir understanding from pore scale to seismic scale.
Check out this drone video from one of the field locations.
The 2-day and 4-day course will cover the following topics, and the 4-day course will include 5 more field locations:
What is Chalk? Concepts, constituents, lithologies, facies, deposition, stratigraphy, paleogeography
Chalk Petrophysics, characteristic parameters
Chalk Geophysics
Chalk Development Geology
Chalk Production Technology and Well Engineering
Chalk Reservoir Engineering
Half a century of Chalk field production and future potential
